What didn't you do that deserved a hug? I mean honestly...I owe a lot to you right now! If not for you, I would've been in a lot of trouble.

Seriously... You've got really bad luck, you know that? I don't even know how you ended up in this world in the first place, but appearing in a noble's home like that is seriously shitty luck. It's a good thing I found you before anyone else did.

[a sigh]

And I didn't think any other Hidden Elites would be there on business either. Honestly, talk about bad timing...

I do...Father has really bad luck too, so he probably passed that down to me.

[She pauses, humming thoughtfully.]

[intendance]

...You're great, but you're thirteen, and that's significantly too young to think about settling down with someone!

...Isn't that right?

[she's being nice, okay.]

[intendance]

[...s-snerk.

They're on the run and it's quite dark out, but Morgan is still giggling, hand clasped over her mouth to try to not laugh too loudly in the dark.]

[And eventually she catches her breath and calms down and grins at him.]

Just don't get married until you're old enough, all right?

But I suppose now that I'm here, I might get to see some more interesting things I thought I was going to miss out on!

I-I still need to get stronger first! I don't have the right to marry her until then!

[intendance]

[...c-cute. Morgan giggles at his blush and pokes at his cheek.]

But she allows him to bat her hand away, tilting her head.]

But I'm closer now than I was in Haven! So I'm feeling pretty optimistic!

I haven't even seen her in the last three years, remember!?

[intendance]

[And at that, Morgan just shrugs, and while she's still smiling, it's a bit more muted than when she was teasing him.]

That's right. But I'm...not sure how long I'll be here for, so...It seems premature to disregard the possibility entirely.

[hammy]

[a sigh]

Well, I guess that's true. Hopefully we'll find a way to send you back soon enough... though I probably won't be staying in Roland for much longer... How should I incorporate this into things?

[yeah he's starting to mutter to himself now]

[intendance]

If it's terribly troublesome, you can just leave me in the next town, and I'll figure it out.

[It seems a bit naive, but she knows and remembers everything Zohra told her about Roland. She just also doesn't want to make Zohra's life any more complicated than it already is.]

[hammy]

[That snaps him out of his thoughts.]

Huuuh? Why would I do that? Don't you know that it's one of my rules to never abandon an ally?

[intendance]

You wouldn't be abandoning me if it was my suggestion in the first place...

[But it's just quiet, and she doesn't seem intent on pursuing it, mostly because she doesn't really want to be alone here, in a place without her friends or her father or anyone she knows.]

[hammy]

[He looks at her with a decidedly unimpressed face.]

You have no money that can be used here. You know nothing about outside of Roland. War could erupt at any moment—sure, we currently have a truce with Estabul, but everyone knows that truces don't really last. And you can't use magic, since yours isn't from this world's and would attract too much attention. You're not likely to find a solution by yourself either.

[a shrug]

If you don't mind being pursued, you can come with me. Two pairs of eyes are better than one, at any rate.

[intendance]

[Everything he says is true, and logical, and it's all things she already knows, because she's not stupid. And so she sighs a little, quiet but slightly audible, because she is relieved.]

I don't mind being pursued, if it's with you. I mean, you made those other people look totally incompetent, and it was obvious they weren't at all.
