[Congrats, Morgan. You're... well, you probably have no idea where you are. Judging from the surroundings, though, it seems to be a noble's home, late at night. The hallway is mostly dark, illuminated only slightly by light coming from other rooms, the air is silent—

But she allows him to bat her hand away, tilting her head.]

But I'm closer now than I was in Haven! So I'm feeling pretty optimistic!

[hammy]

I haven't even seen her in the last three years, remember!?

[intendance]

[And at that, Morgan just shrugs, and while she's still smiling, it's a bit more muted than when she was teasing him.]

That's right. But I'm...not sure how long I'll be here for, so...It seems premature to disregard the possibility entirely.

[hammy]

[a sigh]

Well, I guess that's true. Hopefully we'll find a way to send you back soon enough... though I probably won't be staying in Roland for much longer... How should I incorporate this into things?

[yeah he's starting to mutter to himself now]

[intendance]

If it's terribly troublesome, you can just leave me in the next town, and I'll figure it out.

[It seems a bit naive, but she knows and remembers everything Zohra told her about Roland. She just also doesn't want to make Zohra's life any more complicated than it already is.]

[hammy]

[That snaps him out of his thoughts.]

Huuuh? Why would I do that? Don't you know that it's one of my rules to never abandon an ally?

[intendance]

You wouldn't be abandoning me if it was my suggestion in the first place...

[But it's just quiet, and she doesn't seem intent on pursuing it, mostly because she doesn't really want to be alone here, in a place without her friends or her father or anyone she knows.]

[hammy]

[He looks at her with a decidedly unimpressed face.]

You have no money that can be used here. You know nothing about outside of Roland. War could erupt at any moment—sure, we currently have a truce with Estabul, but everyone knows that truces don't really last. And you can't use magic, since yours isn't from this world's and would attract too much attention. You're not likely to find a solution by yourself either.

[a shrug]

If you don't mind being pursued, you can come with me. Two pairs of eyes are better than one, at any rate.

[intendance]

[Everything he says is true, and logical, and it's all things she already knows, because she's not stupid. And so she sighs a little, quiet but slightly audible, because she is relieved.]

I don't mind being pursued, if it's with you. I mean, you made those other people look totally incompetent, and it was obvious they weren't at all.

[so basically, she's impressed, let her stay.]

[hammy]

[He grins.]

You see? I'm one of the best in the Hidden Elites. I've even gotten pretty famous lately too.

[intendance]

I noticed from the terrified reactions of those guys!

[She beams, giggling even as they walk.]

You made me sound pretty good too, even!

[hammy]

Hehe, acting's a specialty of mine! Well, not that that was an act, since it was all true, but you know what I mean!

[intendance]

[She just grins at him, tilting her head.]

I do know what you mean, and it was very good. They didn't even know what hit them!

[hammy]

I know, right? Well, the Hidden Elites are a bunch of idiots anyway. They didn't stand a chance in the first place.

[intendance]

I suppose they didn't!

[The good cheer fades off quickly though, as Morgan thinks about said Hidden Elites.

And what they had been doing.

[She doesn't really do anger, but regardless, there's a quietness to her statement.]

[hammy]

[He looks at her for a few moments, before letting out a wry laugh.]

Well, that's the Hidden Elites for you. There's a reason nobody likes us very much. Lots of reasons, actually. Trying to rape women is just one of them.

[intendance]

It's not an us.

[She looks frustrated by the very idea.]

You may be a part of them by name, but you're in a completely different class than them.

[hammy]

[He stares for a second or two, before grinning and shrugging.]

Well, yeah. That's why the country wants me dead, you know?

[He doesn't seem too bothered by the thought at all, though.]

[intendance]

[And at his grin, her expression softens too, until she's smiling back at him.]

Well...nobody's going to be killing you, since you're pretty strong as it is, but I'll watch your back too, for what it's worth.

Nobody's allowed to kill you when I owe you so much!

[hammy]

You don't owe me anything, geez! But I guess it won't hurt to have someone there for me.

... As long as you don't wander around too much when I'm on business. And I can't really take you with me when I'm dealing with the nobles, so you'll have to find a way to entertain yourself while I'm not around.

[intendance]

You can count on me!

[She'll be there for you, no matter what comes their way--that's just a silent promise she makes herself though. She can never think of a good way to repay him for everything he's done for her--the magic, the number of times he has saved her life...--and so this works perfectly.

She'll just be there for him, come rain or shine, and that will have to be enough.]

But I'm sure I can find something to do...You should show me around before you leave, though. I need to know what's around!

[So she can know where she's not supposed to wander...? Yeah this is not gonna work.]

[hammy]

... Actually, come to think of it, maybe you're better off not leaving the house. At all.

[intendance]
