Well, they don't trust sending me out of the country anymore, so I don't get a whole lot of missions that would take days to complete, and while I've gotta keep up good relations, the nobles can't really be seen fraternizing with an assassin like me, so meeting with them doesn't take too long...

[He smiles.]

I guess I can spare some time for you.

[intendance]

...Well, good! Because...

[She pauses and huffs and--]

I already told you that I'm not gonna just ditch you. It's not like I'm used to entertaining guests, though.

[intendance]

You don't have to entertain me. Just having you around is enough. It's waaay more interesting than nobody being around.

[hammy]

Well, as godly as I know my presence is, you're just gonna have to get used to having nobody around. Unless you reaaaaally feel like getting to know the other Hidden Elites...

[intendance]

But if I can't leave, I can't make new friends either. So I'll just be all alone.

[hammy]

[There's a pause while he walks, before he sighs.]

How about this: when I leave for a mission or whatever, I'll take you with me and drop you off outside the area? The Hidden Elites wouldn't bother you if you're with me when we leave the house, and while I dunno how fun wandering around town is, it's probably better than being cooped up inside all day and you can at least talk with people.

Just don't accidentally trespass onto a noble's territory and watch out for carriages that look like they belong to someone important. The streets' atmospheres are pretty easy to read, though—if everyone suddenly becomes tense, that means you should be too.

[intendance]

[She brightens instantly, grinning.]

That would be great! I'll be careful and stay out of trouble. But at least I can look around then and talk to people.

[You'd think it was Christmas, really, with how pleased she is.]

All right, then that's settled! I'll even give you some money, if you want. Just don't spend it recklessly.

[He looks up, thinking.]

Ah, actually, you can buy groceries too, then. I don't really have much time for that thanks to my work, so this makes things convenient.

[Because Roland dismissed his servants years ago and while that's not too much of a loss, it means that he hasn't been eating entirely properly—]

[Morgan just grins and nods at that, holding her tome to her chest easily as she grins.]

I can do that! Shopping for food can be lots of fun, and shopping for food in another world entirely...

[She taps a finger to her lips thoughtfully.]

Whoaaa, that could be interesting!

[hammy]

[He tilts his head.]

You really think our food's that different?

[intendance]

It could be! You'd never heard of bear meat, after all!

[she has a point.]

[hammy]

I guess... Well, try not to go too crazy and pick something weird just because you have no idea what it is.

[intendance]

Okay, I won't do that when I go. Mostly.

[hammy]

... Knowing you, 'mostly's the best I'm gonna get, huh? Geez... Try not to poison the both of us, okay?

[intendance]

I'll try! I'll ask the people who are selling it if they're poisonous.

Don't worry, I'm a quick study!

[And she's not talking about just the grocery shopping now. She's a quick study with everything--and so she'll be fine, wandering the streets.]

Yeah, yeah. Try not to get kidnapped, okay?

[They're approaching the residence area of the Hidden Elites now though, with small 2-storey mansions scattered about.]

Don't be silly! I'm basically already kidnapped--just sort of by your world more than anything.

Oh well. She's looking around with a great deal of interest, not seeming to be particularly bothered.]

... Don't get kidnapped by a noble, I mean. They're known for picking girls off the streets. Well, I guess with your skills, it'd be hard for anyone to kidnap you...

[intendance]

[She nods easily enough.]

I'll keep it in mind, but I should be fine. Even not using magic, I'm pretty good with a sword.

Hopefully that doesn't happen, though. I don't want to hurt anyone.

Not to mention it'd attract a lot of attention. Well, actually, you'd have the army after you for attacking or even defying a noble, so attempted kidnappings are only allowed when I'm there too, okay?

Okay, okay. I will only defy nobles when you're around then.

The rest of the time, I'll just avoid being kidnapped.
