[He tenses at that. He almost falters, because he wants so badly to have faith in that.
It would be... nice, if he were able to trust Minato.
It would be nice if he didn't have to kill him.
But he isn't.
But he does—because he swore he would, if ever Minato sunk to the level of every other human that Tiir has encountered.
And so, quietly—]
I might've believed that before.
[For a moment, the anger disappears from his face, instead leaving a flicker of remorse.]
And I might start to believe that, given enough time.
[Then he hardens his expression again.]
But I won't make that mistake. I have to—
[He has to kill him. He has to, even though for the first time, Tiir doesn't
want
to take someone's life.]
