state of the rp: general

... hnnnnngh. I've just had a bunch of insecurities and issues pile up over the last couple of months, and altogether, they've made RP (and plurk) become kind of toxic to my emotional health lately, aha. I'm hoping apping to a new game will help smooth some things over and spark my old love for RP, but as things stand... I don't have any plans on dropping, because I don't feel like that would actually help, but barring the occasional moment where I have fun again, I'm really not enjoying RP as much as I used to a couple of months ago. /o\
HAVEN
state of the game

... Haven's the only place that I play at right now, so, uh, I guess state of the RP in general applies here.

HONESTLY I love Haven, but again, my general RP issues are sort of killing my enjoyment in everything.
character: Zohra Rom [[personal profile] outrival]
age: 19
series: The Legend of the Legendary Heroes
time played: 1 year and 8 months (taking into account the 1 month that I dropped him)

The usual problems: as the one who translated most of his scenes (with most of his other translated scenes being done by someone who's not really concerned with voice), I'm the one who gets to decide what his voice is, so it's... sort of like playing an OC. That is, you can't really be sure you're doing it right, because... how... It doesn't really help that he's a fairly minor character with wildly different sides to his personality, so I'm never really sure if I'm overdoing one side or not.

Also, I discussed this with Jae, but since I'm kind of a mess when it comes to playing him now, from an OOC level, a lot of those issues are making it difficult to figure out his current characterization in-game in that they're bleeding in over ICly. Jae said it makes sense, since I wouldn't really be projecting if there was nothing connecting my OOC feelings and his IC characterization, and the OOC situation can't help but legitimately affect the way I play him, but.

sits here and cries over the pia and peria i'll never ever get

I... don't know? Logically, he should be easy enough to get out there—he's loud, he's a fighter, he's been on like every single raid since the day I apped him. The only real drawback is that he's apathetic to a lot of things, but that's more in response to emotional trauma or whatnot, and shouldn't really affect how hard it is to get him out there.

And yet, he's just really hard to plot with, which is part of what's making me sort of miserable with him. I don't know why.

shipping potential: □ □ □ □ □

Yeaaaaaaah no.

likelihood of drop: ■ ■ ■ □ □

... sob it's really sad copying & pasting this from the last time I did this meme and noticing that my old self wrote "I ENJOY PLAYING HIM LOTS so" with zero squares.

But yeah, I just have so many issues with playing him right now that it's... gah. I don't want to drop him, because while playing him doesn't make me happy anymore, I'm pretty sure I'd be even more unhappy if I dropped him. )x But I can't really say I LOVE PLAYING HIM AND WOULD NEVER DROP because really, the two things stopping me are the small hope that things will get better EVEN THOUGH I'VE BEEN TRYING WITH LIMITED SUCCESS and the realization that it'd probably just make me doubly miserable, welp.

development/final thoughts:

Dana and Jae know the full extent of my thoughts on him, but... hnnngh. It's actually sort of ironic, because what Kite said to him, a year ago, didn't really apply then because he had Morgan and Noire and whatnot, but it's actually true now, in a way—that he doesn't belong. Because right now? He doesn't. I don't feel like he does anymore.

And honestly, he's sort of regressed in terms of development. His Haven development was presumably replicated through his canon update—i.e. getting used to being part of a team and having allies, etc.—but as of late, it feels like he's become even more disconnected and solo than he used to be.

So... yeah.

Uh.

character: Sekreuz "Setz" Trenkel Navarus [[personal profile] defriends]
age: 16
series: Crepuscule
time played: 1 year + 1 month

muse strength: ■ ■ ■ □ □

I'm just leaving what I wrote last time because it... all still applies...

I don't think I'll ever really know how Setz reacts to things sob. Talking to Jae, who looked at the raws for me, helped in that we established that Setz basically has three different categories of people: those who are his superiors, those whom he's the superior of, and people he's comfortable with (i.e. only Lark and Carne, welp). Haven complicates things by the fact that no one fits in any of the above categories, so I awkwardly squish them in some mix of #1 and #3.

But yes. The thing about Setz is that he's always very conscious of whom he's talking to and his formality level will reflect that, so I always have to think about that. Even beyond his general voice, though, Setz is both emotionally stunted and rather emotional, so I'm never sure how strongly he should react to something.

And I still don't know how he introduces himself sob Jae knows my woes about this.

cast strength: □ □ □ □ □

\o_o/ All of his castmates have come and gone and he broke down over it a little in front of Ciel. That's... PRETTY MUCH IT.

plotting capabilities: ■ ■ □ □ □

I... honestly tend to forget that he exists whenever events come along, welp. He's allergic to sunlight, so I can't get him around unless it's an event without sunlight, and even then, he's so anti-social that a) I don't really have an excuse to tag around with him, and b) I usually ignore him in favour of Fujimaru.

shipping potential: ■ □ □ □ □

Again, copying my answer from last time.

It's not... impossible, but Setz has canonly acknowledged himself to be too closed off to connect with people easily, and after the whole incident with Carne, I wouldn't be surprised if Setz has absolutely zero (if not negative) interest in romance. He's kind of already had enough of a love life to last him a lifetime, okay.

likelihood of drop: ■ ■ □ □ □

I was half-convinced I was going to drop him a couple of months ago, but held on because I had a magical castmate. Since then, though Lark's dropped, I've actually gained more confidence in playing him (largely thanks to Ciel and his lovely roomies).

development/final thoughts:

He's... there idk. Haven hasn't broken him, though I've usually kept him away from major trauma—that said, Setz is pretty resilient anyway. He's doing his best to hang in there.
character: Fujimaru Akutsu [[personal profile] fujimaru]
age: 16
series: Snow White & Seven Dwarfs
time played: 10 months?? I think??

muse strength: ■ ■ ■ ■ ■

Fujimaru is actually one of the easiest characters I've played, ever. He's just so cohesive and... together (??) in canon that it makes it really easy to figure out how he reacts to things. There's the occasional moment (now that I've been playing him for so long and have to double-check that I haven't gotten complacent) where I stop to think and make sure of his voice, but altogether, I'm pretty confident in him.

cast strength: ■ ■ ■ ■ ■

I DON'T CARE IF SHIRAYUKI IS MY ONLY CASTMATE it's not like we'll ever be getting more THIS IS MORE THAN I EVER EXPECTED IN MY LIFE SO

as far as I'm concerned this is a full cast okok

plotting capabilities: ■ ■ ■ ■ □

Fujimaru has gotten more involved than I thought he would I'M SO GLAD I WORKED UP MY COURAGE AND APPROACHED BLUE THAT ONE EVENT.

Overall, though, as anti-social as Fujimaru is, he's proactive, so.

shipping potential: ■ ■ □ □ □

Copying and pasting my answer from last time—

There technically isn't anything stopping Fujimaru unlike the above two—he just has absolutely no interest in it (seriously, romance is almost literally possibly actually literally never brought up in canon for anyone). Fujimaru in particular doesn't form connections that easily, thanks to nearly everyone around him dying as he grew up, so. \o_o/

likelihood of drop: ■ □ □ □ □

The one square is there mostly because of my general discontent with RP right now but otherwise nope.

development/final thoughts:

HE FINALLY GAINED HOPE a few months ago. So yes, he's developing nicely, even if I sorely miss his old CR and wish he had more meaningful CR like he used to.

Still, I'm not afraid to throw trauma at him, because none of it is really worse than what he's already been through, and after already bouncing back from the lowest point of his life, it'll take a lot to re-break him.
HOMELESS
character: Lief [[personal profile] ofdel]
age: 18
series: Deltora Quest
time played: blah

muse strength: ■ ■ ■ ■ □

I worry that I might be oversimplifying his voice into "TALK FORMALLY WITH NO CONTRACTIONS" but he's actually pretty easy.

cast strength: □ □ □ □ □

???????? the sad thing is that, coming from a relatively popular, albeit old, children's series, he probably has a higher chance of getting castmates than anybody else

plotting capabilities: ■ ■ ■ ■ ■

HE'S A PROTAG. Do I really need to say more—

shipping potential: □ □ □ □ □

He's ready to marry Jasmine, so, uh. He's not asexual, and he's not ONLY EVER HAVE EYES FOR ONE GIRL, but his (unofficial) relationship with Jasmine has progressed to the point where he's very serious about it, so hooking up with anyone else would basically be cheating at this point and it's not likely to ever happen.

likelihood of drop: □ □ □ □ □

I DON'T PLAY HIM ANYWHERE.

development/final thoughts:

\o_o/?? Gonna app him at Syn, yo.
character: Shinnosuke Arisu [[personal profile] insincerely]
age: 17
series: Apocalypse Alice
time played: blah

muse strength: ■ ■ ■ ■ □

His voice is actually why I wanted to pick him up in the first place, so it's relatively easy for me to mimic.

cast strength: ■ ■ ■ ■ ■

Okay so technically not my cast because neither of us play them in a game BUT EX-BOYFRIENDO'S GUNJOU IS ALL I NEED IN LIFE

well I mean I'd love other castmates but

GUNJOU

SOMEONE ELSE ACTUALLY PLAYING FROM MY CANONS

plotting capabilities: ■ ■ ■ ■ □

Also a protag but a super tsun one, so he would desperately try and convince everyone that he doesn't want to get involved. While still getting involved anyway.

shipping potential: ■ ■ □ □ □

He's kind of anti-romance, but that's because of his anti-social tendencies, which are gradually fading.

likelihood of drop: □ □ □ □ □

Uh.

development/final thoughts:

I'm kind of eye-ing Empanadas, but who knows. We'll see???
