History-ish:
OKAY SO history time bear with me here—
~100 years ago, Kuroyuki found the Grim Rock aka this... organic rock thing in Siberia (she was a scientist, IIRC) and buried it in her body, thus obtaining immortality. She basically started to go crazy from then as she grew further obsessed with researching it. Her husband committed suicide after realizing how far she'd gone.
Anyhow, she then gave birth to Shirayuki who inherited her immortality, though not her Grim Rock, hence why Shirayuki aged. Then, at some point, Kuroyuki experimented on Shirayuki via implanting her with a Grim Rock see what would happen. The end result was that the Grim Rock planted in Shirayuki would continue to regenerate, even after being gouged out. Due to the strain on her, you know, TINY BODY, Shirayuki also lost her voice (for the record, Takeru essentially inherits her immortality in the finale and is also unable to speak for a few moments, while Shirayuki regains her voice). She also stopped aging, like Kuroyuki.
(LESSON TIME: said Grim Rock is the source of a tekigousha's ability, by having it buried in them. Shirayuki's is considered the 'original'.)
(JAN HAS NO IDEA TIME: from the looks of it, Shirayuki has multiple Grim Rocks—the 'original' and the one that keeps getting gouged out and regrowing. If she loses the 'original', then she'll become a normal girl (or at least regain her voice and aging) and whoever absorbs the 'original' will gain her immortality.)
Anyhow, Kuroyuki did lots of political stuff over the next 100 years. Of note is the fact that Shirayuki was kind of responsible for the apocalypse two years ago—the 'original' has a magnetic field of sorts that, combined with a certain device Kuroyuki has, can manipulate the path of meteors. Kuroyuki was basically LET'S DESTROY THE WORLD FOR ~SCIENCE~ and then yeah the apocalypse happened.
At some point (probably before the apocalypse), she saved Amagiya's life, as he was incompatible and thus should've been disposed of. However, she then had him gouge out one of her Grim Rocks, thus forcibly making him compatible-ish. He was touched that she was willing to do such a thing for him (considering it's, you know, MASSIVELY PAINFUL FOR HER), hence why he's now so devoted to her.
Organ-gouging and being-used-in-her-mother's-diabolical-plans aside, it looks like Shirayuki lives a normal-ish life (she gets toys, treats, etc.—a lot of them from Amagiya—and chills around).
During the last two years, she met Izumi (aka Takeru's bro) and became buddies with him!! This worked in his favour as Takeru turned out to be incompatible, and so while Takeru still had his Grim Rock buried in him (after two years, the doctors figured he was never going to recover from being braindead), Izumi brought him to Shirayuki (apparently, they met briefly half a year ago, by chance). From the looks of it, being in close proximity with her made Takeru pseudo-compatible in a similar fashion to Amagiya, thus allowing him to recover. Izumi then had a friend erase Takeru's memory so that they could dump him in Hachiouji as means of letting Takeru escape—Takeru obviously protested this, as did Shirayuki.
EXCEPT NO ONE CARED ABOUT THEIR OPINIONS and you know how it goes from there for Takeru. Anyhow, that's how Shirayuki knows Takeru.
IN THE PRESENT Shirayuki somehow manages to escape from the government building and traverse districts (no, we don't know how either) to find Takeru (SEE ABILITIES). Her goal is presumably HEY KILL MY MOM PLEASE or something along those lines.
BASICALLY SHIRAYUKI JUST WANTS KUROYUKI TO BE STOPPED. Preferably through Kuroyuki's death, but hey, if that fails, then finding a way to kill herself so that her mom can't use her as a tool works too!!
Anyhow, Fujimaru joins the party and then Souichi and Souji also the join the party and they all go on a happy fun journey to disable Shirayuki's GPS (that's inside her chest and, when the government's trying to locate her, apparently hurts). During the mission where they attack the buildig where the main hub of the GPS is located, she gets placed with Fujimaru (Fujimaru is basically her main babysitter after Takeru, not gonna lie), who's forced to use his full ability to deal with her GPS. He tells her to keep it a secret because he doesn't like people knowiiiiing and hey it's not like she can tell anyone—
But yes, Fujimaru manages to take care of things, Shirayuki cries a lot, everyone is confused, and then Shirayuki detects Izumi's presence! YAY ONE OF HER FAVOURITE PEOPLE. Except then he's a jerk and tells her to go back to Kuroyuki and rips Takeru's Grim Rock out of his arm, thus turning him into a normal-ish human. I say normal-ish because being a tekigousha sucks, even when you're no longer a tekigousha; essentially, Takeru's left feeling awful afterwards (they escape, for the record) with no guarantee that he'll recover. Shirayuki, being the kind soul she is, takes off her shirt and places his hand on her chest.
TAKERU FREAKS OUT because wow don't make a pedophile out of him???
SOUICHI FREAKS OUT because wow his little bro's virginal eyes??? /slaps hand over Souji's eyes
FUJIMARU FREAKS OUT because he's the only one who actually understands what's going on.........
Namely in that Shirayuki then has Takeru gouge out a Grim Rock so that he can become a tekigousha again. IT ALL ENDS HAPPY-ISH and they clean up the blood and everything. Also, I should probably mention that Ken joined them when they were escaping earlier.
OFF THEY GO they then meet the final member of their party aka a shady doctor named Akane. Akane happens to be a tekigousha who obtained his powers from his late father (a tekigousha who seemed to have escaped) and is thus not affiliated with the government in any way. He can talk to blood and is, again, a doctor, so he gets to curing the group's 92842793472934 health problems. While he's operating on Ken and Shirayuki's asleep, Takeru and Souichi go out to do stuff, Souji secretly follows them, Shirayuki wakes up and Fujimaru presumably has to soothe her back to sleep.
This is relevant because she's pretty upset to find that everyone ditched her. B( Lots of crying and guilt-tripping are had, and everyone is sorry.
Amagiya then shows up and kidnaps her back like five minutes afterwards TRAUMA FOR EVERYONE.
Life returns to normal-ish for Shirayuki after that except she's kind of more miserable than before and maybe attempts suicide once?? She also shuns Amagiya a lot THANKS FOR TAKING HER BACK WHEN SHE DIDN'T WANT THIS YOU JERK.
Eventually, the final battle begins, so Kuroyuki's just WELP I GUESS WE SHOULD LEAVE JAPAN NOW AND HEAD OVER TO WHERE MY ALLIES ARE (possibly Ken's dad, though it's not clear). Before then, she decides to activate her device from before—aka HEY SHIRAYUKI LET'S CREATE ANOTHER APOCALYPSE.
Amagiya tries to save Shirayuki and quickly gets kicked out by Kuroyuki who tells him that he's never allowed to see her again (Amagiya's powers make him pretty animalistic at times, so the concern there is that he'll one day try to devour Shirayuki).
Later on, as being used to bring upon the apocalypse is extremely painful, Shirayuki is crying. This is notable because Amagiya's basically gone completely berserk for external reasons but hears her crying and so rushes to where she is and tries to kill Kuroyuki, who then sort-of-kills him instead.
This is understandably traumatizing for Shirayuki, and I'm just going to link what happens. For the record, Amagiya licked her hand, which is plot-relevant because that was what actually saved his life—some of Shirayuki/Kuroyuki's (one of the two) regenerative blood was on it, and by ingesting it, Amagiya managed to be revived.
AKA THE PRINCESS REVIVED THE PRINCE IN THIS FAIRY TALE yep.
Anyhow, Takeru arrives around the same time (that actually happened before Amagiya's death, but) with Akane and Izumi. Akane does his doctor thing with Amagiya, while Izumi deals with Kuroyuki. Kuroyuki notes that it's too late for them to escape—even if Shirayuki were to lose the 'original', the meteors can't be stopped (unless your name is Fujimaru buuuuut that's not relevant to Shirayuki).
Shirayuki, understanding this and realizing that things have to end now, has Takeru gouge out her original. Through this, Takeru becomes immortal while Shirayuki returns to normal or at least regains her voice and stops regenerating Grim Rocks.
Then Takeru kills Kuroyuki (long story) and they all live happily ever after. AND SHIRAYUKI CAN TALK NOW and she's getting bigger Takeru is so gleeful over her gaining weight and is all SHIRAYUKI YOU'RE GOING TO BECOME A BEAUTIFUL YOUNG LADY SOMEDAY
aka OUR DAUGHTER IS GROWING UP. /sheds tear of pride
Abilities:
- Immortality! She doesn't age and will recover from any wound.
- Sensing other tekigousha's presences: it's never explicitly remarked on, but she can detect when other tekigousha are nearby. This is a practically useless ability to everyone but her because everyone fails at charades (PUSH...? NO, STOP. SHE'S TELLING US TO STOP. WHY???).
- Evil-detecting dog OKAY NO I KID but seriously Takeru pretty much treats her as one. BASICALLY Shirayuki presumbly has very good intuition or something. The recruitment process of the heroes goes something like this:
Takeru: SHIRAYUKI ISN'T AFRAID OF THEM OKAY THEY'RE TRUSTWORTHY ENOUGH!!!
Fujimaru: ARE YOU SERIOUS
The sole exception to this was Ken, who already had Fujimaru's seal of approval.
